Carlos Eduardo set to quit Bundesliga for Russia

BERLIN (AFP) – Brazilian Carlos Eduardo is set to leave Bundesliga side Hoffenheim and is expected to join Russian Premier League champions Rubin Kazan, it was revealed on Saturday.

The 23-year-old midfielder was not selected for the Hoffenheim squad which beat Werder Bremen 4-1 on Saturday and is expected to be sold before the transfer window closes on August 31.

It is true we are talking to another club about selling him and so it made no sense to pick him in the squad for today, said Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick.

Carlos Eduardo joined Hoffenheim in 2007 for seven million euros, a record fee for a German second division club, before Hoffenheim then won promotion to the Bundesliga in 2008.

The attacking midfielder has played 58 Bundesliga games and scored 13 goals and has been selected by new Brazilian coach Mano Menezes for a training camp in Barcelona from August 30 to September 9.
