AS Roma have held talks with the representatives of Tottenham Hotspur s Jan Vertonghen over a possible free transfer this summer as his contract expires at the end of this month, according to Italian publication Il Messaggero.
The Belgian defender arrived to north London in 2012 from Ajax for a reported fee of €12.5 million. Though the club failed to win any trophies since then, he was a big part of the revolution under the command of Mauricio Pochettino between 2014 and 2019, which culminated in reaching the Champions League final last year.
